Save the Dates!

Today Patrick and I thought we would be crafty and go shop for paper supplies to make our own "save the date" cards. There was really no stationary that we liked and we didn't really want it to match the invitations, we decided to go ahead and make our own. We bought the paper from Essence du Papier and we will begin putting them together and sending them off soon! 10 months, 18 days to go!!!

Bridesmaid dresses are ordered!!!

My beautiful bridesmaids Annie & Bronte (My sisters) Carolyn (My future sister-in-law) and Dayna (my friend) and I took a trip to David's Bridal on Saturday to look at and hopefully buy their dresses. I had a specific dress in mind but I wasn't sure if all the ladies would like it as well. The cliche is that all bridesmaid dresses are ugly...why? Because generally the bride puts her ladies in something that SHE likes, but is not necessarily flattering on the bridesmaids.

I was happy to find that ALL my girls looked AMAZING in the dress I liked and each and everyone of them was comfortable and happy with the choice. We were only in there an hour before we bought them! The dresses should come in in November :)

I can't wait to see how they are all going to look the day of the wedding!!! :D

Colours...

SO we have decided that our colours are going to be green, pink, and off-white! Patrick was originally against the idea of green for some odd reason, but myself, my mom, and his mom all convinced him ;) Here is a sample colour scheme- I'm thinking of adding a light gold to the mix too! (Keep in mind these are not the exact colours, but this is basically what we're going for.

And we have a venue!!!

So far it seems every element of this wedding has been running extremely smoothly! We are not 12 months and 27 days away and we have the Church (The Cathedral Church of St. James, Anglican) The Photographer (Jeremy Clay Photography) The Dress (Becker's Bridal) and now the venue! (One King West Hotel & Residence).

Patrick and I went down to One King West yesterday with both of parents and took a look at the venue, and our parents were really happy and gave us the go-ahead to hold the wedding there! The hotel is the old Dominion back and the reception area is over 130 years old. It has gorgeous marble and gold ceilings and the longest bar in North America (a bonus haha!).

We are so so so excited and have had the amazing help of the lovely Catering Manager, Jean, who I know is going to help us have a perfect wedding!

Say Yes to the Dress!

SO! I thought it would take me much longer than this but I have found my dress! I only went to three different bridal salons (The rule of thumb is you only go to three stores or you'll confuse yourself) and the LAST dress I tried on at the LAST store was my dress. At first I didn't know, but the longer I wore it the more I fell in love with it. We (Mom, and my two maid's of honour Annie and Bronte) went to have dinner across the street and the whole time I just kept saying "should I try it on again?". We went back after dinner and I decided right there and the, this was it!!!

I'm going back today with my Mom and my Dad to seal the deal!

I'm buying my dress from Becker's Bridals, a Toronto bridal staple, and the designer is La Sposa of Barcelona. It's the off-white, mermaid, strapless, satin, button-back, long train dress I've always wanted!!!

:D

Name Change...

I'm not sure how I want to change my name. I'm definitely not leaving my last name as Ratcliffe because I want the same name as Patrick and our kids, but at the same time I can't really picture not having my last name at all...I guess I could either do:

Molly Tallon
Molly Ratcliffe-Tallon
Molly Ratcliffe Tallon (and just go by "Molly Tallon" and have "Ratcliffe" part of my legal name...for a diploma or...my grave lol)

hmmmmm

Patrick and I met up with our photographer last night and now the papers are signed and ready to go!!! We are so excited to work with Jeremy Clay!!! This guy is truly an amazing artist. Shout Out to Married Peeps! (Number Two)

Congrats to my good old friend from elementary school Michael Major, who got married to his Husband Augustine this past Sunday! Mike is one of the sweetest people I know and I wish him all the best in married life! (Mike is my age and I'm jealous I am not married yet and he is).

All the best and God Bless!

Shout Out to Married Peeps! (Number One)

I guess this is a tad delayed but I want to do a wedding shout out every time someone I know gets married!!

On October 10, 2010 my Uncle Victor and my Aunt Susan finally got married after 12 years of being together! This means Vanessa, Natalie and Justin are officially my cousins! The wedding took place at my parents house and was absolutely beautiful!

Rings...

How is it that most men's wedding bands appear to be more pricey than womens...when most men's don't even have diamonds in them....huh.

Wedding Date Change!!!

This just in: We have changed our wedding date!

As weird as it sounds, we are basing our date around our super amazing photographer Jeremy Clay and he can't do July 7th!!!

Therefor, we have now changed our date to June 30th 2012. Only a week difference :)

We now return to our regular programming.

And the countdown is on!

We get married exactly 16 months today! It sounds like a lot, but I'm not going to pretend it's far away- so much planning to do! :)

Soap Anyone?

So my cousin David and his wife Kate just got back in Toronto from their two month long trip around Canada and the U.S. Kate and David are from the U.K. and are contemplating moving to the T-dot! For my birthday they bought be some handmade soaps from The Rocky Mountain Soap Company  in Banff. They smell amazing and are all natural!

So why this is wedding relevant is because Rocky Mountain does custom wedding favours! Instead of doing chocolate, some Canadian hand-made soap might be an awesome idea! :)

We'll definitely keep this in mind! Thanks guys!

July 7th, 2012!

So, we finally set our wedding date today with Father David at St. James Cathedral! Just a few forms to fill out, and a weekend marriage counseling course and we're good to go! Another benefit of us waiting a long time to get married is we sure do have our choice of dates! For some reason I really like 07/07/12...maybe because our dating anniversary is 06/07/04...something about the number 7...Hopefully we don't have 7 kids...

Next big to-do item: Get together our guest list so we have a rough estimate of how big of a venue we need!

For a Good (Wedding) Cause!

So, I just watched a video from one of my favourite youtube vloggers Lora www.youtube.com/loraandlayton, about her friend's friend who is trying to win a dream wedding. The couple getting married are both 21 like Patrick and I, but they've had to put it off due to his recent cancer diagnosis. There are so many couples everywhere in the world getting married, some fortunate, some not so fortunate. I am so happy that Patrick and I are both healthy and don't have to go through the struggles that this couple is going through. Please read their story and vote for them at http://www.ultimateweddingcontest.com/entry/101510?vote=1 to help them have a chance at a dream wedding!

Engagement Photos

Here are some of our engagement photos taken in October 2009. We decided to do them downtown Toronto since that's where we would be living a few months later! Our photos were taken by amazing Toronto photographer Jeremy Clay!

In front of our home before it was finished!

Note: In the background is St. James Cathedral- the church we plan to get married in

This is the bench we got engaged on!

My beautiful 18K White Gold diamond ring from Spence Diamonds! We picked it out together a few weeks before Patrick proposed. The diamonds are conflict free!

This cute old man wanted to be in our picture. I believe his words were "No hanky-panky on Front Street!"

At the Hockey Hall of fame!

Sexing it up!

Engaged!

We got engaged July 29, 2009!!!! We had picked out the ring together a few weeks before, but after work one night Patrick and I went on a date downtown where we made it official!

Only engaged for a few hours!

Our changed relationship status on Facebook means it's official haha!
